Violet Los Angeles is a charming neighborhood Bistro and Cooking School in the heart of Westwood Village. Housed in a two-story historic brick building, Violet features a lush and romantic courtyard, chic bar and dining room, rooftop terrace, and a beautiful demonstration kitchen.
Reservations are highly recommended. We host numerous private events, from birthdays and weddings to corporate and team-building cooking classes, bar mitzvahs, and afternoon tea.

In this immersive experience, each guest will make their own batch of cinnamon bun with cream cheese icing, learning essential pastry techniques along the way. Chef Yesenia will guide you through each step, sharing professional tips and techniques to help you build confidence and elevate your baking skills.
At the end of class, you'll take your finished batch of rolls home to share and enjoy.

From bustling markets to sidewalk cafés, Vietnamese cuisine is all about balance, freshness, and bold yet harmonious flavors — and this class brings those traditions to life in a hands-on, engaging way.
Guests will learn the techniques and flavor foundations behind some of Vietnam’s most beloved street foods, exploring the interplay of herbs, acidity, richness, and crunch that define the cuisine. Along the way, Chef Nishi will share cultural context, practical tips, and insights drawn from a deep knowledge of global flavors and technique.
After cooking together, you’ll sit down to enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal featuring the dishes you’ve helped create, served family-style in the warmth of the Violet Cooking School.

About Chef Nishi Lal
Born and raised in India, Nishi found her roots in Los Angeles in her early 20s. Her love for food and passion for teaching was honed at The New School Of Cooking in Los Angeles and Cooking Schools in Thailand, Vietnam, and India. With a detailed background in global spices, herbs, and cuisines, Nishi has taught numerous private, group, and virtual classes with different Culinary Schools all over Los Angeles. Throughout her career, she has tried to bring together traditional techniques and modern approaches, fresh ingredients, robust flavors, and spices native to the cuisine she teaches.
